How Does Live Printing Work?

A DC job starts weeks before anyone sees a press. The kit leaves our Fullerton shop by freight (DC sits 2,281 miles away in a straight line, farther by road), and the crew flies in to land a day ahead of load-in. On the day itself it's simple: guests choose, we print, they wear it out, and each guest waits about two minutes.

The four moves, in order

  1. Scope the room. You send the venue, date, headcount and hours. For a booth at Walter E. Washington Convention Center we ask for the exhibitor manual up front, because the dock time, drayage and electrical order all come out of it.
  2. Proof the art and ship. Art is proofed and locked about a week out, blanks are counted to your headcount in XS–4XL, and the road cases go on a truck headed east.
  3. Load in and test. The crew builds a 10×10 ft station on two 120V/20A circuits and runs test prints before doors. In a Georgetown house that can mean a side door and a lift. Downtown it means a marshalling window.
  4. Print, then strike. Each press runs up to 60 shirts an hour and a two-press station clears 100+. When your program ends we pack out on your schedule and the cases ride freight home.

What changes from one DC room to the next

The station is the same at a convention booth, a fly-in reception, or a gala out at National Harbor or the Wharf. The line is what differs. An expo aisle feeds the press all day. A reception sends people over in waves after the speeches, so we staff for the peaks. See what the venue needs to provide, or send us the event and we'll map the setup.
